Pit Fired Vessel

$250.00

Hand built with stoneware clay using the coil method and smoothing out surface once at desired size.

I left the rim uneven to give the handmade feel.

I applied 5x coats of Terra Siggilata to the surface polishing with plastic inbetween each coat to give the smooth shiny surface.

Once bisque fired I attended a workshop in Gippsland VIC with ‘Valley Potters’ and fired this piece in the communal Pit.

I tied copper wire around this piece as well as red seaweed and banana skins.

In the communal Pit there was hardwood, sawdust, oxides, salt and carbonates added to give varied effects to each piece.

Once cleaned I applied Liquid quartz over the entire body of the vessel to provide water proofing both inside and out.

Size - 16.5cm H x 10cm W.
